Empathy and Dr. Becky Collaborate to Support Families Navigating Grief

Published on Nov 19, 2025

At Empathy, we know that grief doesn’t just touch individuals: it ripples through families, workplaces, and communities. Supporting someone through loss means understanding not only the pain of saying goodbye, but also the challenge of caring for others while navigating your own grief.

That’s why, in recognition of Children’s Grief Awareness Month, we’re honored to announce a new collaboration with Parenting Expert Dr. Becky Kennedy, renowned clinical psychologist, bestselling author, and founder of Good Inside, to bring compassionate, practical guidance to families navigating loss.

This collaboration with Dr. Becky furthers Empathy’s ongoing mission to make support during life’s hardest moments more human and accessible, alongside voices like Chief Empathy Officer and grief expert David Kessler and clinical psychologist and pregnancy loss expert Dr. Jessica Zucker. Each of these collaborations deepen Empathy’s commitment to helping people find language, structure, and support through life’s hardest moments.

A Shared Mission: Making Grief Conversations Easier for Families

When Empathy’s Co-Founder & CTO Yonatan Bergman first began thinking about how to support parents through loss, it came from a deeply personal place.

“After my mom passed away last year, I struggled with how to tell my daughter about it and how to help her understand something I was still processing myself,” Yonatan shared. “This work is so important, and bringing Dr. Becky’s practical wisdom to Empathy means the world to me.”

Through this partnership, Empathy and Dr. Becky have co-created a suite of expert-informed grief resources available through Empathy's Loss Support product and designed for parents and caregivers, bridging the gap between emotional understanding and actionable support.

These include:

For Dr. Becky, collaborating with Empathy reflects a shared belief in what families can do when they have the right tools and understanding.

“When a family experiences loss, a child’s emotional world is deeply shaped by how the adults around them show up,” Dr. Becky said. “As parents, we can’t take away the hard things in life, but we can take away the aloneness and create a safe space for our kids to feel. We can also model what it looks like to grieve and stay connected to each other’s feelings. When we create safety and connection, we show our children what it looks like to move through grief—together.”

This collaboration with Empathy is focused on helping parents and caregivers approach grief as a family experience: one that deserves openness, language, and connection. Whether it’s helping a child name their emotions , or reminding parents that tending to their own grief is part of caring for their kids, Dr. Becky’s guidance offers a roadmap for emotional sturdiness amid the hardest moments. .
