James, 42, grieving his mother
As an only child, when my mother passed, I found myself feeling so alone. I just did not have anyone I could turn to as a sounding board. It was easy to feel lost and fall behind, and the anxiety grew, especially once I knew I was approaching bureaucratic deadlines. It all felt like too much.
When I reached out to Empathy, which I had access to through MetLife, it had been two months since I had made an initial filing for probate. I hadn’t taken any action since then. I was worried about a form I had failed to file on time, and fearful about the legal repercussions. My Care Manager called the court on my behalf and helped resolve the situation, which didn’t result in a fine or a penalty. After that, I returned to court with confidence and even found the staff there to be extremely helpful. I think if I had gotten this kind of support early on, I wouldn’t have taken half as long to deal with these probate steps.
Whenever I have been asked to do an evaluation of Empathy I’ve given it the highest marks. I have to say, for something I said yes to almost on a whim, Empathy has turned out to be so much more robust and so much more helpful than I ever could have imagined.
