With an exceptionally beautiful product, powered by tech and driven by purpose, we provide peace of mind by guiding families through all the tedious and time-consuming tasks that follow a loss, automating many of the processes so that they can focus on what matters instead.

The world has a long way to go when it comes to talking about grief and loss; our companion app helps families navigate the practicalities that come with the death of a loved one. As we move forward, we are constantly learning more about our users’  journey and their challenges in order to better serve their needs.

Design is a key element in everything we do at Empathy, providing a visual framework that helps families feel supported, comforted, and valued. Communicating with those who are experiencing a crisis requires a sensitive and simple approach. We strive to provide a soothing experience and a clear interface that will guide them as they progress in their logistical tasks and on their road to healing.

 

In this role you will:

  • Partner with product, marketing, content and engineering, to define products and features that will bring value and relief to bereaved families

  • Translate goals and constraints into end-to-end flows and experiences that are simple, elegant and easy to use

  • Work closely with engineering to ensure a flawless implementation of your design deliverables

  • Conduct user research to gain insights and validate solutions

  • Champion inclusive design, ensuring user-centred best practice and accessibility standards are applied across all experiences

What we’re looking for:

  • 5 years of experience in designing, iterating and improving customer facing digital products (web and mobile) 

  • Bachelor's degree in Visual Communication

  • A solid portfolio with a diverse set of complex products that met the market

  • Experience in user research, from problem discovery to usability testing.

  • Strong critical thinking and storytelling skills

  • Excellent visual design skills, including a clean aesthetic and a sharp eye for layout, color, typography, and composition

  • Pixel-perfect attention to detail

  • Expertise in Figma and Adobe suite applications

  • Proactive, clear, and thoughtful communication with team members and stakeholders

  • A team player who can prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously
